Description

If you think Jerusalem is a pretty amazing city during the day, just wait until you tour the oldest parts of the city at night. Panoramic nightscapes, unique aromas, colored lights against a dark sky, and of course the unique smells of the fresh food and spices. The temperature is usually much more manageable and the evenings are quite pleasant. I would recommend a sweatshirt or sweater for sure even in the Summer. Jerusalem is a desert climate and the temperature can drop significantly when the sun goes down.

A major feature along the way will be the famous Mahane Yehuda market featuring the hustle and bustle of an authentic Middle Eastern market (Shuk) where vendors sell the only finest delicacies to the locals and you as well. The culture of the shuk forms a major part of Jerusalem life where people come to buy the freshest and finest produce from around the country. My daughter lives about 20 minutes away and routinely takes the train to shop at the market. The quality and pricing is the best in Israel. There are also several very unique restaurants with some of the tastiest food in the city at very reasonable prices. We were once at the market and came across by accident an authentic North African restaurant tucked away in a small alley. It was one of the tastiest meals I have every experienced.

Allow your senses to show you the way,  smelling the freshly brewed coffee and aromatic ground bulk spices. Enjoy local delicacies including about 20 different types of Halva, burekisim, Falafel, Sabich, and homemade pickled vegetables, Israeli olives and olive oil, freshly squeezed juices, and freshly baked Jerusalem breads.
