Your attraction-packed day will start with a stunning panoramic viewpoint from the famous Mount of Olives to get an appreciation for the entire city of Jerusalem (Old City and New), its architecture and beauty. pointing out the important sites with a short explanation about the city’s past and present. Continue for a walking tour of the Old City (only .35 sq. miles or .9 km.) and therefore ideally suited to explore on foot. The Jerusalem Old City has more to offer from a religious and historical perspective than almost any other place on Earth.
We will enter the old walled city on foot through one of the main gates from ancient times. The tour features visits to Mount Zion and the ancient Cardo, an integral component of city planning lined with shops and vendors that served as a hub of economic life. We will pass the Stations of the Cross on the way to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher housing both the traditional site of the Crucifixion and the Tomb of the Resurrection and its station including Golgotha – the crucifixion site.
We will stop at the Western (Wailing) Wall, which is actually the holiest Jewish site. Interesting fact; the Wailing wall is actually only a small section of the remaining supporting wall of the Temple Mount that has remained intact since the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 AD.
The tour continues by car to the New City with a visit to the Israel Holocaust museum Yad Vashem literally meaning a “place to memorialize” the millions of innocent victims of the Holocaust. It will be an experience that you not soon forget. I guarantee it.…(Children must be at least 10 years old)
