Highlights – Rosh Hanikra, Haifa, Acco, and Caesarea
Start your day with a drive along the coast road with breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea. Our first stop will be Caesarea, once the largest city in Judea. Here, on the ruins of an ancient anchorage, Herod built a splendid port that he dedicated to Augustus Caesar. The 3000 seat Roman theater with wonderful acoustics is still used today for summer concerts. I have been to a concert there and it is truly special with the music reverberating throughout the stadium and the Mediterranean Sea as the backdrop. The remains of the Crusader City, the Hippodrome, a Byzantine street with giant headless statues and the Roman Aqueduct are also part of the archaeological finds at the site. Just wait to you hear the story of how the aquaduct was constructed. Engineers and architects to this day remain in awe.
We will continue to ancient port city of Acre or Acco, a Unesco World Heritage Site, to visit the Knights Halls, the crusaders underground city and the authentic white market with some oriental food and spices.
We Continue north to the border with Lebanon to visit the gleaming white cliffs of Rosh Hanikra and the mysterious caves inside created by the waves of the sea.
We will end our day with a visit to Haifa. We stop for a breathtaking panoramic view of the Haifa Bay and the golden domed Bahai Shrine and Temple , part of the exotic Persian Gardens.
